The cutting of this year's Vassana Kathina Chivara began on September 27th. This year's Katina Chivara will be sewn in the homes of the main sponsors of the Kathina Pinkama on the following days.

The Hamilton Vihara celebrated Vesak on 21st May 2022, to commemorate the Birth, Enlightenment and Passing away of the Lord Buddha. Poya Seela Samadana program started at the 8.30 am at the temple premises.
This is undoubtedly the most sacred day of the Buddhist calendar. So the temple has organized Dhamma talks, Meditation sessions and Puja (offerings) ceremonies to honour the Lord Buddha and help us to practice and follow his teachings. There was also a Vesak lantern display and a dansala that evening.

As customarily cutting and sewing the robe will take place on Sunday 26th of September. Although at alert level 2, we can accommodate up to 100 people, considering the pandemic situation and everyone's health and safety, we decided that only a few people can be accommodated within a 1-meter distance.

The Kathina Cheevara Puja Ceremony is a very special ceremony in the Buddhist calendar. That can only be held once a year by a temple. This year Katina Ceremony limited to the five sponsoring families while following all the Delta Alert Level protocols.
